Update to the AutoPlay functionality in Windows

As you know, whenever you insert a CD or DVD, Windows will attempt to “auto start” it (unless you’ve disabled it) the program on it. While this is handy, it has become a security exposure with the advent of USB “flash drives”'. A USB flash drive can be infected and set to install or run an infected program.

There has been a lot of discussion on the web in the past months about how to disable this. The problem with many of them is that they disable ALL auto runs.

MS has come out with a patch that will disable only USB flash drives while allowing CDs and DVDs to auto start. They cover XP, Vista, Server 2003 & 2008. Looks like we wait for Windows 7…..
