Windows 7 upgrade programs may vary by vendor

Looks like most PC makers will start around June 26th to offer “upgrade” coupons for folks who buy new Vista computers before the October release of the code. The coupons may not be free. OEM’s will be paying for them and may pass on some or all of the cost

Buyers will get an upgrade coupon for a free copy of Windows 7. It’s worth noting that buyers of Netbooks probably won’t get an upgrade since they ship with XP. There will be no free upgrade for XP.

BTW, it should be noted that there is no in-place upgrade from XP to W7. XP users will have to do a “clean install”.
